Vacations with humanoid – first hotel with androids opened
The Henn-na Hotel in Tokyo is the first hotel in the world staffed (almost entirely) by humanoid robots. The hotel was opened in July (last year). What customers feel about humanoid staff?
Hotel is located in Huis Ten Bosch – a theme park in Sasebo, Nagasaki, which recreates the Netherlands by displaying real size copies of old Dutch buildings. The Henn-na Hotel has 72 rooms and “hire” 10 humanoids. Or “so called” humanoids because one staff member looks like dinosaur. All robot personnel was designed to resemble human behavior. Humanoids keep eye contact and simulate breathing. They even blink. The humanoid robots are multi-lingual and are able to converse with guests in Japanese, English, Korean and Chinese.
Half year of functioning showed big interest in this extraordinary hotel. In march 2016 another part of the building will be opened for guests. On the Tripadvisor, most of the reviews are positive, although some of the visitors claims that they wished the fantasy had kept up more with the reality.
So would I go again? If things didn’t change, no. They need the air to be kept cooler somehow, they need more comfortable beds and lastly they need to really make the robots integrated into everything and not just be a gimmick.

So… maybe it is time to book vacation? Or maybe better is to wait a little more. What You suggest?
