PaPeRo
PaPeRo – the Partner-type Personal Robot – was created as a beginning to a robot assisted future envisioned by NEC to help humans live “life with more time to spare.” PaPeRo is capable of understanding 650 different commands and can speak over 3,000. PaPeRo is capable of face recognition and can read emails or deliver messages on demand. It can be controlled using a cell phone, sending its vision to the phone’s LCD screen, making it ideal for home monitoring or even assisting in childcare.
PaPeRo uses different technologies to interact with its environment. For example, Its “eyes” are really twin cameras with a face recognition system. With a pair of sensitive microphones, it can determine exactly where a sound comes from and if the sound is human speech. PaPeRo also has other sensors located in its head, which can detect if the robot is patted, slapped, etc., with PaPeRo responding accordingly.
Ane finally we want to present some nice but also WTF video with PaPeRo. Enjoy!
