Zenbo – Asus home robot for just $600

Asus just announced a home robot called Zenbo. Cheap robot moves around on two wheels and have a shape of a bigger ball with a “friendly face” presented by touchscreen display. Is Zenbo the future member of ours families?  

To promote Zenbo, Asus presents 11 minutes long video showing Zenbo’s abilities. The knee-high robot is a kind of droid butler. Zenbo can respond to spoken request, sing, dance, tell stories, google informations, buy goods online and even be a family photographer (or allow video calls by “his face”). It also can watch, listen and record everything in the house which – from one point of view – make home more safe place, but – on the other- violates privacy of each home member.

The greater idea –as Asus chairman said on press conference – is:

 to enable robotic computing for every household

Is Zenbo will meet families expectations? It is possible, that Zenbo will bring to home more awkward situations than conveniences – but the little robot is also totally cute. For Asus, as for the others electronics manufacturers, in-home robots are still an experiment. See for Yourself:
